Law of Transference Study Notes

The Cross - The Law of Transference

Study Guide - You Dig Further into Revelation with Holy Spirit

Over a year ago Holy Spirit told me to study the cross and the blood of Jesus. I have to admit that I had a limited understanding of all that transpired at the cross. This journey in my studies has been quite fascinating and life changing for me. I pray that you will take the time to study it out for yourself. I wanted to give you bullet points of what I have found so that you can have a starting point. The cross is not just a symbol of salvation it is so much more...

The old testament foreshadows Christ: our need for Him and how He would redeem His people. Read how the old testament sacrifices stood in place for the one making the offering (law of transference).

  • The sacrificial lamb (bull or goat) was to be perfect, without blemish, to be offered in the place of the person(s), or people group, who sinned (knowingly or unknowingly). The person who sinned was to place their hand on the lamb as it was being slain. The lamb's innocence (righteousness) transferred to the person and the person's sin was transferred to the lamb. The lamb paid the price for the person's sin.

    • Look up: Leviticus Chapters 4, 16 and 17:10; 2 Corinthians 5:21, Isaiah 53:7-11, Philippians 2:7-11,

    • Leviticus 17:10 “for the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the Lord. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible.”

    • 2 Corinthians 5:21 “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

At the Cross what took place between Jesus and the one who believes (has faith) in Him?

The Law of Transference. (not an exhaustive list of reference scriptures)

  • Because Christ was punished we were forgiven. We are at peace with God. We now have His righteousness. Isaiah 53:10, 2 Corin. 5:21, Hebrews 2:9, 18, Colossians 2:14, Romans 8:1

  • By His stripes we are healed. He bore our sickness. He was our substitute.

Matt. 8:16-17, Isaiah 53:4-5, 1 Peter 2:24

  • He took our death and we gained His life. Philippians 2:8, 1 Peter 2:24

  • He set us free from the curse. We gained His blessings. Galatians 3:13-14, Deuteronomy 21:23

  • Jesus endured our poverty that we might share in His wealth. 2 Corin. 8:9, Deuteronomy 28:47-48

  • He endured our shame so that we could share in His glory. Matt. 27:35-36, Hebrews 2:10, Hebrews 12:2, Romans 8:34, Ephesians 1:20, Galatians 6:16

  • He took on our rejection, discord, rebellion, separation and gave us oneness with Himself and oneness with one another. We are one body with Jesus as the head. Ephesians 2:11-22, John 17:21-25, Mark 15:29-32, Acts 2: 38 (Holy Spirit)

  • He fulfilled the Law so that we could be in a new covenant with Him. Hebrews 7:20-28

  • He took our defeat, death, and gave us His victory, life. Colossians 2:15, John 3:16, Romans 5:8, Galatians 2:20, Colossians 3:1, Ephesians 2:6, Romans 8:37 (more than conquerors)

  • He took our brokenness and made us His masterpiece. Ephesians 2:10

  • For a good summary read Colossians Chapter 1.

8 Victories of the Cross (The Passion Translation Notes on Hebrews 2:18)

  • He is crowned with glory and honor. He brings many sons (daughters) into His glory. He is made perfect through His sufferings. We are made holy. By His death He destroyed the devil who held the power of death over us. He delivers us completely from the fear of death. He is now our faithful High Priest. He helps us in every temptation.

The Cross gave mankind the one and only way to God and it gave God a way to give Himself to those who believe in Him. This list of the benefits of the Cross/Salvation is for believers in Christ Jesus as the Messiah:

  • For Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”

  • The Cross is the power of God; His Justice

  • Old self (the flesh) is dead and we are now a new creation (prototype)

  • United with Christ as one, via indwelling of Holy Spirit

  • The Cross gave us His honor, His righteousness, His inheritance

  • Guilt free, forgiven, no charges on their account with God

  • Healing of all diseases, deliverance, miracles, able to share the Good News

  • Set free from sin and deaths power and authority

  • Made whole, blessed with every spiritual blessing to live a life of godliness

  • Sonship, friendship, communion

  • His masterpiece, holy, redeemed

  • Natural realm has no power over the believer

  • Reconciled to God, at peace with Him. Share in the fullness of Jesus’ life.

  • An end to division with man, unity, hooba (fiery passionate love) for God and man

  • Now able to do good things that God planned for the believer to do

  • Free from the law and its commandments, new covenant

  • Able to come to the Father boldly

  • The devil has no power or authority to accuse the believer. Death was defeated and the believer no longer has to fear it.

  • Able to receive Holy Spirit: teacher, counselor, help mate, stand-by, guide, comforter, gives understanding, wisdom and revelation, He intercedes for us, He performs miracles through the believer, He helps us to pray, He convicts us of sin, He sets people apart for ministry (service), He gives gifts (2 Corin. 12). He is the resurrection power, He is the Creator, He is prophecy (Word of God), and so much more.

  • Able to spend eternal life with God

  • Victorious, more than a conqueror

A Note of Encouragement:

Jesus loves you beyond measure (Eph. 3:17-19) and He wants you and I to burn with passionate love for Him as well. There is no stopping point in our journey with Jesus. We, as believers, are compelled with great urgency to endure in faith until the very end. To encourage one another in the faith. To meet more frequently as the days get darker and closer to Christ’s return. I declare over you that you will not quit but will finish this race victoriously in the faith. I also would like for you to make Holy Spirit your best friend. Ask Him to teach you and give you revelation and wisdom when you are searching out the mysteries of God in His Word. Make Holy Spirit the first person you turn to for encouragement, advice, wisdom, help, comfort, love and friendship. He has given all of Himself to you, now give Him access to all of you!
